Some of us just take longer to figure shit out. I didn’t start to get my shit together until i was 29
- laserface is right. outside pressure tells us to be something by a certain time, but it's all arbitrary. life continues to not be one size fits all
- my depression is here again, but I'm more equipped to deal with it, and I have slightly more stability in my life. still don't love waking up or doing anything though
-
i really need a change in environment or something. idk what im doing with my life lol
look within and then without ...the only thing stopping you from doing that you want is believing you can't. find what you want and put yourself into it anew every day

- I have a button on my phone that takes me directly to bloard
- Where is big birder i miss his presence

- is that really no irony..
- rules for this post: do NOT reply with "yes" or no anyone heard any good music lately.
- I've been re-listening to La Luz. Weirdo Shrine is a great album. I've also been enjoying the album Singing Saw by Kevin Morby.
- the new Graham Kartna album is getting a lot of plays from me.
- I have to take an extra semester of college and I'm t*cked off about it

- if the only change i made in my life was to never order pizza alone after midnight i would probably be much happier , more well rested, and about 40 pounds lighter but i will absolutely not stop
- i'm trying to bulk on a renaissance periodization program but it's hard as hell to do intermittent fasting AND eat a caloric surplus on only whole/non-refined foods. i slept 12 hours straight last night. woke up, walked into the living room and looked at the clock as my eyes came into focus and sure enough it said 12:00 (i went to sleep at abt 11:45 iirc).
- today i was thinking about posting on bloard when i was in the shower. then later i remembered, and i thought i did post on bloard, but i didnt i had only thought about doing it. fucked. Joop whatever you're talking about sounds absolutely insane, please dont cause your own death somehow.
- joop, what is the thing you're doing? I'd like to hear more about it
- i havent been to the gym in 2 years. i will start again when i get a new job
- Man I can’t remember the last time I slept for 12 hours. That’s my body’s natural optimal recharge time. I normally only get 9.
-
i'm trying to bulk on a renaissance periodization program but it's hard as hell to do intermittent fasting AND eat a caloric surplus on only whole/non-refined foods. i slept 12 hours straight last night. woke up, walked into the living room and looked at the clock as my eyes came into focus and sure enough it said 12:00 (i went to sleep at abt 11:45 iirc).
What is this? I just bulk by eating whatever I want whenever and occasionally lifting weights and now I have a big belly that I slap periodically whilst sitting down.
- renaissance periodization is a very science-heavy approach to gaining muscle size and strength / decreasing body fat percentage etc. it's all about maximizing the volume of work you can do in a week, and maximizing the number of weeks you can keep up your training before extended recovery is necessary. it's useful for amateur athletes, though nothing special for elite strength sports competitors. i'm combining intermittent fasting because i find it prevents the sort of excess fat gain that can occur during the less metabolically active "bookends" of the day. in other words, you frontload simple carbohydrates (sugary fruits and vegetables that metabolize quickly) within a few hours before your workout, and take the rest as complex carbs in the hours following your workout with lots of protein to fuel muscle growth and regeneration.
- how long do you go before you do a recovery period?
- yea im not reading any of that
- That sounds really complicated. Also what do you mean by volume of work you can do in a week? Like just going as much as possible, doing more weight or more reps or what?? Sometimes if I overdo it I feel it in my tendons and have to back off a little bit. I want to get as big and strong as possible!!
- you can usually go 3 to 4 months before a prolonged multi-week recovery. by volume i mean the actual total amount of weight lifted in a week per muscle group. generally you want to train somewhere between 10 and 20 sets at 60 - 80% one-rep max within one or two reps of concentric failure. then you increase the number of sets each week for each muscle group. so if you start at 12 and your mesocycle lasts 5 weeks, you would hit 16 or 20 on the last week, and your muscles would have grown to accommodate the increased weekly volume. the difficulty in planning for this comes from calculating which exercises target which muscles, to what extent. e.g., bench press hits your triceps but only secondarily (you wouldn't get sore triceps just from benching). so how do you calculate that auxiliary volume into your weekly total? that's where the periodization templates help.
- this is to add strength and bulk, right?
- nope still havent read a goddamned thing
- that's right little erik, or to maintain strength as much as possible while lowering body fat percentage. though cutting is always a crapshoot and becomes more about damage control than anything else
- crap, i gotta look into this. sounds really complex though. i thought working out was just about picking up heavy things.... now i have to do f&*#ing math....
- I eat food and I run around. at the gym I lift objects 1 half hour twice weekly to promote good circulation. my mental health is moderate.

- I don’t do any exercise despite the fact that i have an elliptical machine and a bench with free weights in my house. Need to turn that thing back on and do like 15 minutes per day on it to get some cardio
- for clarification, what i recommended in the way of hypertrophy programs is for building muscle SIZE, not strength (though of course more size = more strength). I wasn't suggesting you always follow that high-rep, mid-intensity scheme
