- What's the name of the Steven king novel where it begins with someone waking someone else up screaming that bloard has gone offline
- maybe let it cool off for a week before coming back in with a full beard, etc., etc. that reminds me of an amusing anecdote. one time I was at the gym and I hopped off the elliptical and one of the employees was like "could you please wipe that down." I was like wipe what down, i only touched the little handle bars. they said yeah wipe that down. i did but you better believe i was peeved
- sure let me just upload it to bloard's local image directory instead of taking 10 minutes to bb code in an imgur link. oh wait.. 😁

- [quote=kingdad42;%2Fbloards%2Fgbs%2Ftopics%2Freal-talk-the-bloard-thread-with-a-strict-no-irony-policy%2Fposts%2F4807] i just do a 5x5 with the heaviest weight i can manage, mainly around benching, deadlifting, squatting, and then other smaller stuff with freeweights and whatnot. i don't put as much thought into it as i need to though. [/quote] when in doubt go 5x5, i always say
- for clarification, what i recommended in the way of hypertrophy programs is for building muscle SIZE, not strength (though of course more size = more strength). I wasn't suggesting you always follow that high-rep, mid-intensity scheme
- that's right little erik, or to maintain strength as much as possible while lowering body fat percentage. though cutting is always a crapshoot and becomes more about damage control than anything else
- you can usually go 3 to 4 months before a prolonged multi-week recovery. by volume i mean the actual total amount of weight lifted in a week per muscle group. generally you want to train somewhere between 10 and 20 sets at 60 - 80% one-rep max within one or two reps of concentric failure. then you increase the number of sets each week for each muscle group. so if you start at 12 and your mesocycle lasts 5 weeks, you would hit 16 or 20 on the last week, and your muscles would have grown to accommodate the increased weekly volume. the difficulty in planning for this comes from calculating which exercises target which muscles, to what extent. e.g., bench press hits your triceps but only secondarily (you wouldn't get sore triceps just from benching). so how do you calculate that auxiliary volume into your weekly total? that's where the periodization templates help.
- renaissance periodization is a very science-heavy approach to gaining muscle size and strength / decreasing body fat percentage etc. it's all about maximizing the volume of work you can do in a week, and maximizing the number of weeks you can keep up your training before extended recovery is necessary. it's useful for amateur athletes, though nothing special for elite strength sports competitors. i'm combining intermittent fasting because i find it prevents the sort of excess fat gain that can occur during the less metabolically active "bookends" of the day. in other words, you frontload simple carbohydrates (sugary fruits and vegetables that metabolize quickly) within a few hours before your workout, and take the rest as complex carbs in the hours following your workout with lots of protein to fuel muscle growth and regeneration.
- i'm trying to bulk on a renaissance periodization program but it's hard as hell to do intermittent fasting AND eat a caloric surplus on only whole/non-refined foods. i slept 12 hours straight last night. woke up, walked into the living room and looked at the clock as my eyes came into focus and sure enough it said 12:00 (i went to sleep at abt 11:45 iirc).
