Because, essentially without Shrek the movie shows the story of a fearless leader who expels the sorcerers within his city. These sorcerers contribute nothing to his economy, because they can conjure up things from nothing. Knowing this he kicks them out like a middle ages king did to the Jews. He then continues to clean up the streets and remove the degenerates from his city. Did you see how clean Duloc was? My oh my what an example of civilization. After Farquad goes through his plans of spring cleaning he gets to marry a princess locked away in the tower secured by a fuckin dragon. DID YOU HEAR THAT? A FUCKING DRAGOON!!!!
